Veteran Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement has resigned from the Conservative shadow cabinet after he admitted to sharing explicit sexual images and a video of himself, electronically. Clement says the images were sent in the last three weeks and he believed they were going to a “consenting female.” However, he now says the person was trying to extort him and he has asked the RCMP to investigate. Clement is resigning his committee roles as well, but he says he will stay in the Conservative caucus and continue serving his constituents. Party leader Andrew Scheer says he is disappointed in the actions of Clement but is happy that he is planning to seek treatment. Scheer appointed Milton MP Lisa Raitt to take over for Clement as justice critic.
