The Federal Government Gives Notice On Potential Back-To-Work Legislation

The federal government has given the House of Commons the 48 hours notice required before introducing back-to-work legislation, but Labour Minister Patty Hajdu says that doesn’t mean the Liberals will make the move to end rotating strikes by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. Hajdu says Canada Post and CUPW have already had a very long time to work out a deal, but she expects them to work harder over the next couple of days to reach an agreement. The union says their team will do their best to reach a negotiated settlement, but the government’s announcement of possible legislation has pulled the rug out from under them.
