The Liberal government has put forward a new bill that would revise some of the federal election rules, should a federal vote be called during the pandemic. The bill, tabled in the House of Commons yesterday, would spread voting out over three days. It would also add nearly two weeks of advance polls in long-term care homes and make it easier to get and deliver mail-in ballots. Mail-in ballots have been the subject of much controversy in America since the US presidential election. President Trump claims the election was rigged by actors using fraudulent mail-in ballots to tip the balance in favour of Joe Biden. (That claim is disputed).
