Gas Prices, What’s Closed And Everything Else You Need To Know For The Long Weekend

It’s here. We are heading into the May 24 long weekend. There are various things taking place this weekend and some closures on Monday. Here is what you need to know:

TV Events:

Saturday night Paul Rudd hosts Saturday Night Live. DJ Khaled is the musical guest.

Sunday is the final episode of Game of Thrones.

Sunday is the American Idol finale. The remaining three are Alejandro Aranda, Madison Vandenburg and Laine Hardy.

Fireworks:

  • Saturday Night: Family night at Mohawk Racetrack in Milton.
  • Monday: Ashbridges Bay – Toronto.

Closed on Monday:

  • The Beer Store and most LCBO locations.
  • Most grocery stores & shopping malls (some are open on modified hours).
  • Banks.
  • Government offices. (No garbage pick-up).
  • Canada Post.

Transit:

On Monday the TTC will run on a holiday schedule. Go Transit will run on a Saturday schedule.

Open On Monday:

Most tourist attractions will be open for Victoria Day, including: Canada’s Wonderland, the A.G.O, R.O.M., CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium.

Gas prices:

You should probably get gas at some point today because a huge increase is coming tomorrow. Prices are expected to spike 4 cents at midnight. They will likely increase on Saturday night as well.

Full moon:

There’s a full moon tomorrow. It will peak at 5:11pm our time.  Tomorrow’s full moon is called a Flower Moon.  It was called this by Native American tribes of New England and the Great Lakes because by this time of the year, flowers are everywhere.
