House Explosion In Caledon – One Dead And Over 30 Evacuated

Yesterday morning Caledon Fire and local E.M.S. responded to a reported house fire on Maple Grove Road at Charleston Sideroad in Caledon Village and found a single detached house that had exploded. The house was leveled and several other homes in the area were damaged. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 54-year-old Joseph Westcott. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation and Town officials say access to the area is limited. About 30-35 people have been temporarily relocated while the investigation and inspections continue.
