Iran Has Arrested An Unknown Number Of Suspects For Shooting Down The Ukrainian Plane

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani wants a special court set up to try those responsible for shooting down a Ukrainian plane that killed all 176 people on board — including 57 Canadians. Iran’s judiciary now says arrests have been made, but there’s no word how many people have been detained or who they are.

Canadian air-crash investigators are getting their first chance to visit the wreckage today. Transportation Safety Board investigators will help unlock the contents of the plane’s data recorders, which Iran has said were damaged in the crash. Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne tweeted yesterday that Iran has approved all the needed visas.
