This mini heatwave that we are experiencing has prompted a special weather statement across most of Southern Ontario. Environment Canada says this hot and humid air mass will remain in place through tomorrow night. Maximum afternoon temperatures near 30 degrees and humidex values in the high thirties are expected. Humidex values near 40 can be expected tomorrow afternoon. A cold front early Saturday morning will bring cooler temperatures and lower humidity for the weekend. This special weather statement affects Toronto, Halton-Peel, York, Durham, Hamilton, Dufferin-Innisfil, Barrie and right up through cottage country.

High heat and humidity through Friday night.
A relatively hot and humid airmass has reached the area and will remain in place through Friday night. Maximum afternoon temperatures near 30 degrees and humidex values in the high thirties are expected, with slightly cooler daytime temperatures near the shores of the Great Lakes. Even hotter daytime maximum temperatures into the low thirties with Humidex values near 40 can be expected Friday afternoon over some areas. Overnight minimum temperatures tonight will fall below 20 degrees but will remain near or above 20 degrees Thursday night and Friday night.
A cold front early Saturday morning will bring cooler temperatures and lower humidity for the weekend.
