It promises to be a training camp like no other for six Canadian NHL teams. With the NHL’s restart in Edmonton and Toronto around the corner, training camps open today for the 24 teams reporting to the hub cities later this month. The Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks all will take to the ice today in their respective cities to begin preparations for the best-of-five qualifying round. Players and staff members who will be in the vicinity of players were all tested for COVID19 over the weekend. They’ll be tested every second day for the remainder of camp. Reporters will be kept at a distance, with all interviews and press conferences being held remotely. The first games are scheduled for Aug. 1.
