Man Bitten On The Face By A Snake As He Opened The Door To His Friend’s House

Surveillance footage shows the moment an Oklahoma man was bitten in the face by a snake.  Video doorbell shows Jerel Heywood opening the door to his friend’s home in Lawton, Oklahoma on Sunday.  Heywood, who was visiting his friend, Rodney Copeland, is seen approaching the door.  As he opens the screen door, a snake which wrapped itself around a nearby porch light jumps into the frame and bites Heywood.  “I got bit by a snake.  Didn’t know what kind it was,” he said.  He thought to himself: “Have to get to the hospital.”  Luckily, the snake wasn’t venomous.  “No stitches, thankfully, but they cleaned me up pretty good,” Heywood said.  The snake, however, met a violent end.  A neighbor who heard Heywood’s scream during the attack ran over with a hammer and bludgeoned the snake to pieces.  Copeland said he believed that the snake, which measured some 5 feet, five inches, slithered into the porch light to take shelter from the heavy rains which hit the area in recent days.
