Mcdonald’s Reportedly Lost More Than $5 Million Because Of The Toronto Raptors

McDonald’s is putting its money where its mouth is.  The chain has already given away an estimated 2 million orders of medium French fries, thanks to the Toronto Raptors and a promotion that started last year.  According to USA Today, Ontario-based restaurants ran a promotion stating that they would give the fries away whenever the team made 12 or more three-point shots in a single game this season.  The promotion began before the regular season started last year, and before the team acquired superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs.  Leonard is known in part for his ability to consistently sink threes. He hit five three-point shots in Game 4 of Friday’s NBA Finals alone against the reigning NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors.  During Game 1, the fast food chain handed out 80,000 orders of fries after the Raptors hit 13 three-pointers.  Originally, McDonald’s estimated they would only be giving away about 700,000 orders of fries in the promotion.  They have reportedly lost an estimated $5.8 million so far because of the promotion.
