Premier Ford has announced the province is setting up a task force to come up with a plan to regulate the tow truck industry amid major criminal investigations. The announcement comes just days after Toronto police charged 11 people including one of their own officers in an investigation linked to tow truck operations — and one led by York Regional Police that has resulted in charges including murder. Ford says the task force will be made up of the OPP as well as members from across numerous government ministries. It will develop a new regulatory model for the industry while considering issues such as consumer protection and provincial safety oversight.
Our government is deeply concerned about the continued incidents of violence in the towing industry.
