Ontario Has Opted Out Of Tomorrow’s Cell Phone Test Of The Emergency Notification System

The federal government will be testing Canada’s Alert Ready emergency notification system again tomorrow, but Ontario won’t be part of that test. The governments of both Ontario and Quebec have informed Public Safety Canada they won’t be participating in the test broadcast, which was set to be pushed out to cellphones.  They say they’re opting out of this test because they don’t want to send unnecessary alerts to residents still trying to cope with historic flooding. The Alert Ready system is supposed to be tested twice a year across the country.
