OPP Reminding Everyone Not To Call 911 Over Raccoons

The OPP in Norfolk County are reminding the public that calling 911 to complain about raccoons isn’t an emergency. They say police are being inundated with calls for service after people spot raccoons during the day. Police say it’s a myth that raccoons seen during the day are sick or have rabies, nothing that the animals can be active during the day for many reasons including for food. The force says homeowners who have issues with raccoons need to call a private animal removal service.
