Conservative leader Erin O’Toole says Canada should not be sending athletes to the 2022 Winter Games while host China is committing a genocide against minority Uighurs. But the Conservative leader stopped short of stating Canada should boycott the Olympics — or step up to host them, as some have suggested. O’Toole says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should reach out to the International Olympic Committee to move the Games. Trudeau said genocide is an extremely loaded term that should be applied cautiously.

Canada should not send athletes to a nation committing genocide. We need to be much stronger and stand up to Communist China. The 2022 Olympic Games should be relocated out of China. pic.twitter.com/HPFKMT4Nuw

We must uphold Canadian values and stand against the 2022 Olympics being hosted in Communist China. We should work with our allies to relocate the games.https://t.co/4p8nwMIVGL
