Peel Police Remind You That A Leaking Refrigerator Is Not A Reason To Call 911

Peel Police are reminding people not to tie up the 911 system with non-emergency calls — even if your refrigerator is leaking. The force says in a tweet that while police understand such a leak is annoying, it’s definitely not a call for 911 — and people should instead shut off the water and call a plumber. Peel police say while the issue of wrongful calls to the emergency line has been in the spotlight due to people calling 911 about Amber Alerts, it happens all the time. They say almost one in every four calls to 911 are for non-emergencies including parking issues or even to get directions.
