Ukraine’s foreign minister says 63 Canadians were killed in a plane crash just outside Tehran, Iran. The Boeing 737-800 carried 176 passengers and crew — none of whom survived the crash shortly after takeoff. Foreign Minister Vadim Prystaiko says 82 Iranian and 11 Ukrainians were also on board as well as Swedish, Afghan, British and German nationals. Both Ukrainian and Iranian officials say they suspected a mechanical issue brought down the plane. The investigation and recovery effort are now underway.
