Down in Oregon, both a home owner and local police may be feeling a little embarrassed this morning. Police were called to a burglary in progress by the home owner who believed someone had broken in and barricaded them self in her bathroom. She could see shadows moving under the door. Within minutes several deputies surrounded the home, and even called for a K9 team as backup. After calling to the “suspect” several times over a loudspeaker, deputies went into the home with their guns drawn. After breaching the door, police ended up catching the culprit red-handed. It was the homeowner’s robotic vacuum, a Roomba, that was trapped in her bathroom. “As we entered the home we could hear rustling in the bathroom. We made several announcements and the ‘rustling’ became more frequent. We breached the bathroom door and encountered a very thorough vacuuming job being done by a Roomba Robotic Vacuum cleaner,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Rogers wrote in his report of the incident. No charges will be laid.
