Tuesday night police in Amsterdam were patrolling the Oosterpark when they thought they spotted a dead body in the snow. They got closer to investigate and determined there was no dead body. Instead, the object that caught their attention was a horizontal snow sculpture that someone had made. The snowman even had a carrot for a nose, which the officers admitted could have been a giveaway. But from a distance it did appear very human-like and they were able to laugh about it. They don’t know who made it. The Netherlands, like much of Europe, has been shivering through a February cold snap that has pushed temperatures to near-record lows. A temperature of -20.5C was logged in Egmond aan Zee, 25 miles from Amsterdam, on Wednesday night, and forecasters are expecting that to dip even lower at the weekend.
