Premier Doug Ford will not march in this year’s Toronto Pride parade because organizers have again banned police in uniform from taking part. A spokesperson for Ford says in a statement to Global News that the premier has always said he will attend the parade when front-line police officers are allowed to participate in uniform. Uniformed officers were banned from marching in the parade in 2017 after concerns of racial profiling and Pride members voted 163-161 in January to keep the ban in place this year.
The Toronto Pride Parade, one of the biggest Pride Parades in the world, takes place on Sunday June 23, 2019 from the corner of Church St and Bloor St down Yonge St to Yonge-Dundas Square.
