Actor Michael Madsen was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing his SUV into a pole. The actor was taken into custody on Sunday evening by officers responding to reports of a single vehicle collision in Malibu, according to TMZ. Officers noted a smell of alcohol, and after Madsen failed a field sobriety test, his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.10, 0.2 over the legal limit of 0.8. The 61-year-old was arrested under a charge of misdemeanor driving under the influence and taken into custody, with his bail set at $15,000. The actor has previously been to rehab in a bid to treat what his lawyer called a severe alcohol problem. In 2012 he was arrested for DUI after driving erratically, but struck a plea deal that involved attending AA meetings in lieu of more severe punishment. However after Madsen failed to his court ordered Alcoholics Anonymous meetings his probation was revoked. As a result Madsen was ordered to move into an alcohol treatment facility for 30 days. Madsen shot to fame in the early 90’s after appearing in the box office hit Thelma and Louise, followed by a scene stealing turn in 1992’s Reservoir Dogs. The allegations have not been proven in court.
