There were some very anxious moments in North York last night after a minivan was stolen with a 2-month old baby in the vehicle. The brown Toyota Sienna was reported stolen from a plaza on Islington, south of Steeles. After an intensive search by police and the public, a few hours later police tweeted that the baby had been found “safe and sound.” Police said the infant was being checked out by paramedics, and they thanked everyone who devoted their time and attention to the case. They didn’t release any suspect information. Const. David Hopkinson told reporters that an Amber Alert was not issued because the incident was not deemed an abduction, but police did not rule it out.
