The 401 East Is Closed In Mississauga – The 400 North Is Closed At Major Mac

There was a fatal crash last night on the 401 in Mississauga. A transport truck in the collector lanes near Hurontario crashed into several vehicles before crossing over into the express lanes and bursting into flames. 2 people are dead with several others in hospital with a variety of injuries. Multiple people had to be extricated from their vehicles. The OPP are appealing for witnesses to contact their Port Credit detachment.  It is not clear when the highway will reopen. The clean-up and investigation continues. As an alternate, those on the 401 could exit at Hurontario and travel south to Mathieson or Eglinton and travel east towards Dixie where you can rejoin the highway.

Highway 400 is closed northbound at Major Mackenzie. Details are light at this point and an estimated reopening time is not known.
