Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claims he didn’t see this resignation coming. Jody Wilson-Raybould, who was shuffled out of the justice portfolio to veterans affairs last month, announced yesterday she was quitting cabinet but will remain a Liberal MP. In Winnipeg yesterday, Trudeau said Wilson-Raybould never raised any concerns about feeling pressured over the S-N-C Lavalin case. It has been alleged the Prime Minister’s Office pressured Wilson-Raybould to try to get SNC Lavalin off the hook from criminal prosecution in connection with alleged bribes to the Libyan government. Conservative leader Andrew Scheer accuses Trudeau of having something to hide on this file. The controversy shifts today to the Commons justice committee, where MPs will decide whether to investigate allegations of undue political arm-twisting.
