The Latest On President Trump Battling COVID19

President Trump Says His Time in Hospital Has Opened His Eyes:

Donald Trump says his time in hospital for COVID19 has really opened his eyes to the dangers of the virus. The US president issued his revelation in a short video yesterday. However, contrary to his danger message, Trump decided to take a Sunday drive in his specially built SUV — which is hermetically sealed against chemical attacks — to wave to an adoring crowd gathered outside of Walter Reed Hospital. Doctors and experts note that the secret service agents who rode with Trump could very well have been exposed to the coronavirus.

Walter Reed Plans To Discharge Trump As Early As Today

White House Physician Sean Conley said yesterday Donald Trump could be discharged from Walter Reed as early as today as he detailed the president was given a steroid and put on oxygen as they treated him for COVID-19.   The president’s top doctor also deflected blame during the briefing, claiming there was some confusion over Trump’s condition because Chief of Staff Mark Meadow’s comments were misrepresented.  “The Chief and I work side-by-side,” Conley said of Meadows.  “And I think his statement was misconstrued.”  “What he meant was that 24 hours ago, when he and I were checking on the president, that there was that momentary episode of a high fever. And that temporary drop in the saturation, which prompted us to act expediently to move him up here,” he said of the president’s swift movement from the White House to Walter Reed on Friday.  “Fortunately that was a very transient, limited episode,” he continued in a briefing.  “A couple hours later he was back up, mild again. I’m not going to speculate what that limited episode was about so early in the course. But he’s doing well.”

How Did Donald Trump Become Infected with COVID19?

It’s still not clear exactly how and when US President Donald Trump became infected with COVID19. But the White House is focusing on last week’s packed Rose Garden gathering for Trump’s Supreme Court pick Amy Coney Barrett, with some officials calling it a superspreader event. Several people who were there have tested positive, including former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who checked himself into a hospital as a precautionary measure because of his history with asthma.

Trump Fundraiser Guests Asked to Quarantine:

More than 200 people who attended Donald Trump’s fundraiser at his New Jersey golf course have been told to quarantine, after the president was taken to hospital with COVID19 following the event.  The president began suffering breathing difficulties 24 hours after the fundraiser and was given oxygen before being taken to the Walter Reed hospital, where he remains.   The top tickets for Thursday afternoon’s event cost $250,000 and included a roundtable discussion and a photo-op with the president. Others paid tens of thousands of dollars to mingle for several hours with Trump and his team at the Bedminster golf course.  Yesterday evening, the New Jersey department of health tweeted that they had been handed a list of the 206 people who attended Thursday’s gathering.  They said that the department of health “has reached out to these individuals to make them aware of possible exposure and recommend that they self-monitor for symptoms and quarantine if they were in close contact with the President and his staff.”

Ronna McDaniel, RNC Chairwoman, Tests Positive For Covid-19

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel on Friday announced that she tested positive for COVID-19 — revealing her illness after President Trump contracted the virus.  McDaniel, 47, reportedly was with Trump most recently last Friday.  “After a member of her family tested positive for COVID19, the Chairwoman was tested for the virus. On Wednesday afternoon, she got confirmation she was COVID19 positive. She has been at her home in Michigan since last Saturday,” the RNC said in a statement.

Kellyanne Conway Announces She Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Friday night that she has tested positive for coronavirus, the latest major political figure to say they have Covid-19 after attending a Rose Garden event last Saturday where President Donald Trump announced his Supreme Court pick.  “Tonight I tested positive for COVID-19. My symptoms are mild (light cough) and I’m feeling fine. I have begun a quarantine process in consultation with physicians,” Conway tweeted. “As always, my heart is with everyone affected by this global pandemic.”

Chris Christie Tests Positive For COVID19

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who helped President Donald Trump prepare for the first presidential debate last week, has tested positive for Covid-19, he announced on Twitter Saturday.  “I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19,” Christie wrote.  “I want to thank all of my friends and colleagues who have reached out to ask how I was feeling in the last day or two. I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition.”
