Toronto’s public health officials will be making an update on the coronavirus this morning. The province currently has 23 known cases of the virus — four of which have since been resolved. Most of those cases are in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Waterloo Region now has it’s first case of COVID19. A woman that just returned from Italy is the first official carrier in the region. Nationally, there are now more than 40 infections across Canada after yesterday’s spike. There are eight in B.C., 3 in Ontario and 1 in Quebec. Officials in Alberta have announced their first presumptive case as well. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is defending his decision not to close Canada’s borders to foreign nationals coming from countries where the outbreak is spreading. He says Canada is taking its lead from the World Health Organization.
