Last night was the only opportunity for Canadians to see the federal leaders debate in English and the debate lived up to the hype. Green Party Leader Annamie Paul accused the Prime Minister of not being a feminist as he claims, and called him out for removing senior women like Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott from caucus. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh went toe-to-toe with Trudeau over Ottawa’s controversial legal challenge of court rulings involving First Nations children. He also called out Trudeau for failing to meet every single one of his climate targets. Erin O’Toole used last night to introduce himself to Canadians and admitted that in the past Conservatives have come up short on a climate plan, but insisted that what he is proposing will allow Canada to meet it’s Paris Climate Accord targets, while creating good new jobs in a green economy. He also reiterated that he supports a woman’s right to choose and identified himself as an ally of the LGBTQ community.
