Prime Minister Justin Trudeau now admits it was a mistake for him to fly to BC on vacation on Canada’s first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. The Native Women’s Association of Canada said it was astounded by what it called the “sheer level of callousness” of Trudeau’s decision to go on vacation, rather than attending events marking the historic day. Its executive and other Indigenous leaders criticized Trudeau for sending a message to First Nations people that he didn’t take the issue of reconciliation seriously.
