What’s Happening For St. Patrick’s Day Weekend In The GTA

It’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Sunday is the day you don’t want to leave the house without some green on. The pubs are going to be busy from open to close. May the luck of the Irish be with you!  This is also the final weekend of winter and the final weekend of March Break. Here are a few of the things happening in the city this weekend:

  • Toronto Comic Con is on at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
  • The National Home Show and Canada Blooms takes place at the Enercare Centre.
  • Saturday: The Toronto Rock play their annual St. Paddy’s Day game at Scotiabank Arena. It’s a 7pm start vs the Rochester Knighthawks. The lower bowl is almost completely sold out for this one. It’s a great deal. $45 gets you a ticket, a St Paddy’s Day t-shirt and a large draught.
  • Guinness SPD: Toronto’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day party takes place Saturday in the Port Lands. Guinness SPD will feature a free pancake breakfast, live bands with traditional Irish fiddlers and dancers, as well as outdoor patios with interactive games. General admission tickets cost $29. This event is for people aged 19 or older.

With it being St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Orangeville Police have issued a sobering reminder: “Officers will be vigilant in looking for offences like Impaired Driving, Public Intoxication, Liquor Licence Act offences, and noise complaints.” Constable Scott Davis says, “R.I.D.E. spot checks will be conducted at various locations throughout the community over the weekend”. Other local forces have issued similar warnings.
