For the first time, women over 30 are having more children than those in their teens and 20s. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the demographic with the highest birth rate in the US was women 30 to 34. Authors Kasey Buckles, Melanie Guldi and Lucie Schmidt wrote that pregnancies in this historic age group are increasing thanks to delayed age of marriage, first children and infertility treatments. While women over 30 are popping out more babies than ever, births among younger women are steadily decreasing — and that’s a good thing. The decline in births signifies a steady drop in unintended pregnancies, researchers say.
