We all struggle sometimes to get the right amount of sleep. No matter how many hours we get sometimes we wake up the next day feeling even more exhausted than when we went to bed. Dr. Karan Raj shared a video to help combat this and says it may come down to waking up at the end of a sleep cycle instead of just waking up on time.
The doctor has millions of views on TikTok sharing his knowledge on topics like food and medical advice. In a post named “90-minute rule”, the doc talks about how to calculate the perfect bedtime based on when you need to wake up. He says, “Try this if you want to wake up feeling refreshed. Every night your brain moves through several sleep cycles. Each cycle starts with light sleep, then you enter deep sleep, then dream, and back to light. Each of these cycles is around 90 minutes. You feel most refreshed if you wake up at the end of one of these 90-minute cycles. That’s because you’re closest to your normal waking state and to increase the chances of this, first figure out what time you want to wake up.” So if you want to wake up at 8 am count backward in 90 minute intervals until you reach the time you’d like to go to bed or the closest time to that. Dr. Raj did say this won’t work on everyone but it’s a good place to start and target to aim for.
Dr Karan Raj posted a video to explain that feeling groggy when you wake up may come down to interrupting your natural sleep patterns rather than simply not getting enough resthttps://t.co/8FbItFL7EW
