NY Man Arrested After Blowing Through Border Security At The Rainbow Bridge

A man from New York State is facing multiple charges after police say a driver barrelled across the Rainbow Bridge into Niagara Falls without stopping for border officers. Niagara police say American border officers tried to stop the vehicle because it was being driven erratically but it unlawfully crossed the border on Monday. The driver then allegedly tried to evade police in Niagara Falls but ended up colliding with a cruiser and then assaulting arresting officers who Tasered the man. Police allege the 33-year-old man from North Tonawanda then damaged a police cruiser while being taken to hospital, where he is also accused of biting a nurse.  According to Niagara Police, a quantity of suspected Oxycodone and Hydrocodone was found in the male’s possession at the time of his arrest.

Harpreet Singh (33 years old) of North Tonawanda, New York, USA, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs, C.C. 320.14(1)(a)
  • Dangerous Operation, C.C. 320.13
  • Flight from police officer, C.C. 320.17
  • Assault peace officer with intent to resist arrest, C.C. 270(1)(b)
  • Mischief under $5000, C.C. 430(4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Schedule I, CDSA 4(1)
  • Assault, C.C. 266
