Southwest Airlines Kicked A Man Off For Not Wearing A Mask While Eating Twizzlers

A man was kicked off of a Southwest Airlines flight for not wearing his mask while eating Twizzlers. The man took a video while leaving the plane saying, “I, Avi Mandel, just got kicked off a plane because I wasn’t wearing my mask in between bites while I was eating. It was absurd. The way I was treated was absolutely absurd. It was crazy and it wasn’t fair.” Mandel was waiting for the plane to take off when he opened a pack of Twizzlers, a flight attendant had come up and asked him to put his mask on before running away. He didn’t think much of it before the plane was brought back to the gate and Mandel was removed from the flight. Mandel said that he stayed calm and respectful as he escorted off while other passengers stood up for him. TSA said that passengers can remove their masks while earring, drinking, or taking medications but must have it on between bites and sips. Mandel said that “If I knew this rule ahead of time, I would have happily listened, but I had no clue, I think it could be handled a lot better, and I think the rule could have been placed better.
