Las Vegas Workers Find Bones While Digging A Backyard Pool That Date Back To The Last Ice Age

A Las Vegas couple was having a pool installed at their home when the crew working on it found a set of bones that could be 14,000 years old. Matt Perkins who recently moved to Vegas with his husband awoke on Monday to police talking to the workers digging out the hole for their pool. Perkins told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “It kind of freaked us out,” adding that,  “We had joked on Friday that while they started digging, ‘Oh great maybe they will find a dinosaur for us and it will pay for our pool.‘” The bones found were determined not to be human and likely came from a large animal like a horse. Joshua Bonde, the director of research at the Nevada Science Center said the bones date back to the earth’s most recent ice age and could be up to 14,000 years old. Perkins is planning on having the bones removed from his backyard and turned over to Bonde so work can continue on the pool.
